Tim reported that his daughter Sarah is coming from Canberra on Monday and Tuesday next week, to promote her book, “Marvellous Miles”, at some local schools and kindergartens. She also has a couple of media appearances while she is here.
The Marvellous Miles project is being delivered with the support of a district grant from the Rotary Foundation.
Lynne reported that there is very little interest from students in applying for RYPEN this year.
Our last football gate keeping was last weekend, in excellent weather this time around, many thanks to those who have assisted throughout the year.
Eaglehawk was very well represented at the Rotary Club of Bendigo’s 100-year celebrations last weekend. Our club booked 2 tables out of 17, and this was greatly appreciated. Those who were present enjoyed a fabulous night with minimal speeches and a fantastic Big Band.
Alison organised a zoom meeting with the members from our community group last
week, which was well attended, and information is starting to flow amongst the group
which will continue with further meetings scheduled in the future.
On his return from overseas, our new member, Ben Hill was presented with his
Rotary club of Eaglehawk name tag, hat and apron, I’m sure he will put them to good
use.
Ron presented Gary Frank with his updated Paul Harris Fellow badge, Ron spoke of the good work that the donation does and said how our club is way ahead of the pack with the support the foundation receives from our members. In return Gary explained that this year he could nominate where his donation would go, he chose End Polio, as with the generosity of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation his donation is multiplied by 3 times.
John Pearce was the quiz master this week and although the questions were much harder, (Quite a few didn’t correctly answer any questions, me included) Alison was awarded as the winner and received her prize of a free drink.
John then expertly interviewed our illustrious and very nervous co-president Mick Costello, in our person behind the badge session. Mick did very well and as you would expect many of the questions were answered in Micks usual humorous way. I’m sure we all learned something about Mick, I recorded the interview and will sell it to the highest bidder, Mandy.
Next week will be our social night at a venue to be confirmed, remember these nights are an ideal time to invite along a guest.
John will be sending out a roster for the Bunnings BBQ to be held this Sunday.
