Hi all,
This week, we resumed our normal meeting at the clubrooms. We received apologies from Geoff Adcock, Mick Costello, Gary Frank, Ben Hill, GP, and Ron Payne.
Last Saturday we cooked a BBQ at the Harcourt fire brigade fire station. This was greatly appreciated by the attending brigades from both Eaglehawk and Harcourt, many thanks to all who helped, especially to Eric who organised the event. It was a great feeling to give back something to those who give so much of their time for the community.
The upcoming weeks promise to be very busy. At next week’s meeting, we are pleased to welcome our Eaglehawk Citizen of the Year recipient, Terry O’Brien, as our guest speaker. With 27 years of experience as our local policeman, he will undoubtedly share valuable insights and stories. This will be followed by our board meeting.
On 25th February, a food handling session will be held for all members to acquire competence in proper food handling procedures.
Upcoming events include:
Friday, 27th Feb: Burra Day
Our club will support ESC by providing a BBQ on their community engagement day
with students. Please ensure arrival and setup are complete, ready to begin serving
at 11:40am.
Sunday March 1st: Bendigo Health Fun Run
The club will participate with a sausage sizzle.
Saturday March 21st: Dahlia and Arts Festival and Procession
We need to start planning for this now and not leave it to the last minute. If someone can lead this project, please let me know.
This week, John Jones gave an update on the extensive planning for his gardening expo, scheduled for October. Members formed groups of four to brainstorm potential guest presenters and workshop ideas for the weekend; these suggestions will be reviewed. The proposed website was also presented, with several enhancements recommended. Sincere thanks to John, Alison, and Ben for their outstanding efforts to date.
Rita reported that the bookshop has been well supported.
We look forward to the return of Mick and Mandy Costello next week.
