We welcomed Albert 'Skip' Skipper, Eaglehawk Rotary's current Citizen of the Year to our meeting. Always a pleasure to discover what makes people tick and Skip shared with us a bit of his life story along with how he came to be operating Skips Coffee shops in Eaglehawk. The passion Skip has for Eaglehawk was evident in how he spoke of his vision and hopes for the future of the area. Our club members felt very proud to have Skip as the Citizen of the Year and look forward to continuing to work together to further improve upon the already fantastic community of Eaglehawk.

During Skip's chat the issue of the Virginia Hill redevelopment was discussed. There are many views around the proposal and so it was suggested that if members are interested in participating in the public forum discussion currently taking place, then this Saturday 31st May at 6 Darling Street Eaglehawk (formerly the Senior Citizens Clubrooms) at 10am there is an opportunity to participate in discussions and the sharing of ideas on this proposal.
Karen has thanked the club for participating in the Red Shield Appeal and advises that the assistance she is receiving is very much appreciated and makes her job a lot easier by having us around.
A reminder from Mary Preston that the Energy Breakthrough BBQ at the Saleyards will be held on the 20th of June, this has now been placed in the club diary, and members are asked to check if they are able to help out. Another BBQ event coming up is the Midstate Mopars, members will be needed for the BBQ roster for this event as well so check your diaries!
It was a late night for our Board members as the previously postponed meeting was held this week. Along with the regular items for discussion, the budget for the 2025/2026 Rotary year was discussed and fees and charges for the club membership etc were decided upon. Keep an eye out for the minutes that will be distributed to all members shortly for additional information in this area.
Other items addressed at the Board meeting included a few Mechanics facility items, the floor coverings in the hall, security and heating & cooling. The BBQ Trailer, Club Changeover, Bendigo Garden Expo and a very long list of correspondence were also included in the agenda.
Next week's club night will focus on the outcomes of the recently held Great Aussie Camping Swap Meet. Mick will take us through a discussion around how the event worked and what would need to be improved upon should we decide to proceed again.
