Co-presidents report
At this week’s meeting, we were joined by Neil Waugh, who works for Grogans Machinery in Epsom. Neil helped us out with the purchase of the pedal car, which was the eye candy on our Christmas Trailer Raffle.
Apologies for this week were Karen Armstrong, Alison Bacon, Ben Hill, Lynne Cooper, Mary Preston, Ben Hill and Tim Watts.
GP was sporting a rather large engagement ring. Congratulations to GP and Marco on their Engagement.
We have had a busy week with cooking a BBQ for Eaglehawk Secondary College's Burra Day and fronting up again for the Bendigo Fun Run on Sunday. A big thank you to all who helped with both events. On Burra Day, we cooked hamburgers supplied by the school. On Sunday, we served up egg & bacon sandwiches and our regular sausages, and both sold out (a very successful day).
Wednesday morning, I went and helped the other Rotary Clubs bale up baby clothing for Timor. We baled 5 wool bales, each with 140kg of clothing. It is an amazing job the volunteers from Patti Cotton Knitting Group are doing.
This week, we had John Pearce (Person behind the badge). John was born in Melbourne, and his early life was spent moving around Melbourne, before at school age his family settled down in Geelong, where he spent his school years. This is where he became a mad Geelong Supporter. Going to university and studying teaching. His first job was at Eaglehawk High School, and he entertained us with some of the stories from his time there. Highlight being 2022 Eaglehawk Citizen of the Year and 2023 Dalia & Arts procession, when the Eaglehawk Secondary College honoured him by parading an effigy of him in the parade. At this stage, we ran out of time and didn’t get to his presenting on radio Phoenix Fm, amongst other things.
Don’t forget the Songs at the Silos this Saturday night, otherwise have a good long
weekend.
