October 29th, 2025

Congratulations to Wayne Smith and the Rotary Club of Bendigo for the very successful Foundation Dinner held Tuesday 28th October at the Bendigo Club.  Special mention to the organisers who arranged the table seatings, ensuring all who attended had the best opportunity to socialise with representatives from other clubs, a great way to maximise the potential for future collaboration.

We were treated to a presentation by D9800 Foundation Director Julie Mason who presented the facts and figures on the efforts to date.  We are so frustratingly close to achieving the goal of eradicating Polio, these last couple of years have been a struggle for various reasons but it's great to see the commitment of all involved to see it through to getting rid of it once and for all!

In the absence of our regular dinner meeting this week our club missed the opportunity to finalise the roster for the Great Stupa Car Parking this weekend.

Emails have gone out to all members, but we still have a need for some extra assistance.  If you are able to help the club to fulfill our commitment, please contact Secretary John Jones as soon as possible as the roster needs to be finalised.

We are keen to hear from you and to find the next worthy recipient of the Citizen, or Young Citizen of the year for the Eaglehawk Community.

D9800 Networker
In the most recent publication that arrived via email earlier this week (also able to be accessed directly from the D9800 web site), you'll see our club has managed a couple of mentions.  Sue Watts managed to feature in a photo with DG Peter at our bookshop, and 'Marvellous Miles' was a featured article - part of our club's promotion of the District Grant from the Rotary Foundation.

Also good to see our friends down the highway, Castlemaine Rotary, have an article promoting their annual Truck Show coming up at the end of November.  For our non-member bulletin readers, or for those members who don't read all their emails, here is a direct link to the Networker Publication for you to catch up on the D9800 news and admire our new celebrity, Sue Watts!
