17th June, 2026
Hi All,

Well, this is the last report from Geoff and me, as next week we have the changeover (have you booked your seat for it)?

Firstly, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members for their support during the year.

Our Moto for the year was What could possibly go wrong! in this regard we have attempted to change things up a bit with the Carlton & United Quiz, social nights where we supported our local Hotels by instead of a meeting we dined out inviting partners and took a banner with us to show our presents in the community and having John Pearce interview members for the Person Behind the Badge.

We have always tried to make our meetings light-hearted as we both believe we need to make our meetings enjoyable for everyone.

Again, thank you for your support for the year, and please give your support to Lindsay as he begins his year as President.  Geoff and I look forward to handing over the reins to Lindsay next week.

Announcement from the Club's Board
The recently held board meeting was all about closing out one year in readiness for the next.  With the end-of-year disbursements dealt with at the May board meeting, from a financial perspective, it was only the budget for the forthcoming year to be determined.

Full details will be available in the minutes, but the big news story is that the member's subs for the 2026/2027 year have been set at $250.00.  That's less than it has been for a very long time! The cost of membership has often been referred to as a possible barrier for members, so to be in a position for our club's administration to subsidise the direct cost of membership, is sending a really strong message that we are very aware of the financial difficulties currently being experienced throughout our community, and we will support our members whenever possible.

Congratulations to the board for making this decision -  I love this club!

Luncheon - 8th August 2026 - Save the Date
60th Birthday Celebrations

A luncheon will be held on Saturday, 8th August

to celebrate our club's milestone birthday.

More information will follow, but for now - pop it into your diary so you don't miss out!

Rotary Bookshop
The number of people out and about and visiting the book shop normally drops off at this time of year, so Rita and her team of willing helpers have revised the book shop's opening hours.

Over the next few months, these new hours will apply -

Wednesdays - 10am-12noon
Saturdays - 10am-12noon

RYLA participant Georgia meeting with Lynne.

Today it was great to catch up with Georgia Smith who was sponsored by RC of Strathdale many years ago to attend RYLA.
Georgia subsequently went as a RYLA leader five years in a row to contribute back to the program and was awarded a PHF by the RC of Strathdale for her wonderful work.
We met for lunch today with her parents and shared the exciting news that Georgia and partner Liam are expecting their first baby next week. We spoke a lot about RYLA. Georgia's dad, Simon, coaches the Spring Gully Soccer teams, and there is a chance we could connect with them for future RYLA participants. They are a very multicultural club. We could see if Georgia may like to become a friend of Rotary to help us maintain connections with alumni.
Go Rotary.

NYSF closing date is June 24. We look forward to hearing in some weeks how many of our Bendigo students have successful applications. The ABC radio interview with Fiona Parker went very well on Wednesday.

Kind regards,
Lynne.
