February 5th 2025

A thank you to all members who worked at the CFA event last Saturday, the Sunday session was cancelled due to the heat but the workers on Saturday braved the conditions and worked through a very hot day.  Well done to all.  In recognition of our brilliant efforts we are going to front up and do it all again, Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th February we have agreed to be back on deck for another CFA 2 day event, same venue.  PP Eric will be putting together the roster and the planning document is included below for your commitment considerations.

We will be quite involved with the Dahlia & Arts again with an entry into the procession and with the Donuts/Drinks stall in the Park.  The club have 'in principal' agreed to undertake the provision of the 'bar' at the official launch event on the Friday evening, although additional details have been sought in regard to the liquor and permit requirements.

A visit to Castlemaine Rotary Club has been scheduled for Wednesday 5th March, this will be our regular weekly meeting and car pooling will be organised.  Details of those attending are required by Wednesday 26th February for catering purposes.  Please confirm with Carmel that you will be going and how many you are able to take with you.

A reminder to all members that the Rotary Club of Bendigo has invited you to their meeting next Tuesday evening, 11th February to hear Prof. Brennan speak on the Da Vinci Robot.  Additional information was provided in our club's bulletin in January.

Members interested in purchasing additional Rotary Clothing are encouraged to have a chat with PP John Gurr.  Many items are available locally however there is the alternative to order directly with Rotary Down Under.  A chat with John will help clarify this for you.

A reminder that the Mechanics facility begins a new weekly Saturday hire from Saturday 15th February, members are asked to be mindful of this when planning access to the clubrooms.

Mick Costello's update on the Great Aussie Camping Swap Meet detailed the planning that is underway, with Geoff Gallagher taking on the radio advertising.  It's important that we attract site holders and increase public awareness of the event, therefore all members are asked to like and share the club social media posts about the event.

Youth News
I have been so busy, but I have finally had the time to give you a 'report' on my 2025 NYSF experience. I also added a video of us staffies doing the dance to the main song of NYSF, 'Take On Me', which hopefully should work.

Thank you for all your work with NYSF! I know that the Bendigo students make up a huge portion of NYSF now because of all the work you put in to convince students to not only apply but to give them the funds needed to participate in the program. All that effort has contributed to the Bendigo NYSF alumni having an unforgettable experience.

Thanks again Lynne!

Catering for the CFA Championships
An annual event that we enjoy supporting.  As the competitions heat up, so too did our bbq.  Serving egg & bacon sandwiches early in the day, and with the dim sims in high demand, our members were kept busy keeping up.  Sausages with onion were popular for the lunch time rush and the ice cold drinks were in hot (or should that be cold) demand!  The late cancellation of the Sunday event was totally understandable given the high temperatures but we will be back on deck again on the 15th & 16th February when Bendigo has agreed to the CFA late request to host another event.  Always a lot of fun and a great opportunity for our club to partner with another local service organisation.

Bulletin Format

For those looking for information on the club calendar in the bulletin, scroll down to find the heading 'Club Links & Information' click on the Meetings and Events and you will be taken directly to the club website where there is an up to date listing of the coming events, and we're even including guest speaker information as it comes to hand.  If you can't find your bulletin in your email, just go to the club's website - https://eaglehawkrotary.org.au for all the same info.

Weekly Dinner Meeting Attendance

Another slight amendment to ensure we are working with the caterers for the best outcome for the club.  The cutoff for meeting apologies is now 6pm Tuesday (being the day before the club meeting). This change better addresses the timeframes required by the caterer.  It is presumed that all members will be attending the meeting, so if you are actually an apology then contact Carmel prior to 6pm the day before to advise accordingly.  All meals ordered will require payment by the members.

The Rotary Club of Rochester's Songs at the Silos - a free to attend event that would be a shame if you missed - support the local community and enjoy an evening of Opera.
