Thank you to everyone for your support as we kicked off the first meeting of the new Rotary year. It was a great start, despite our Impact Recovery guest speaker having to send their apologies due to unforeseen circumstances. We hope to reschedule the presentation for a future meeting.
I'm looking forward to another productive and enjoyable year together.
A few reminders and updates:
Congratulations to our Grange Plus Raffle winners:
1st Prize: Sophie Costello (photo of presentation below)
2nd Prize: Andrew Coldwell
3rd Prize: Peter Cleary
Please keep an eye out for the Sheep Show Parking roster. Final arrangements will depend on the weather, and updates will be provided as required.
Don't forget that assistance is always welcome at the Bookshop on Saturdays to help John Gurr or Gary Frank. Lindsay is helping John this Saturday. If anyone is available on a Wednesday, Carmel Fitzpatrick would also greatly appreciate an extra pair of hands. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered.
If you have some spare time, volunteers are still needed to assist with gate duty at EFNC. Your help would be greatly appreciated. The next gate is on Saturday, 18 July.
We had an excellent discussion on planning for the Australia Day celebrations and the Borough in Bloom project in place of our scheduled speaker. Thank you to everyone who contributed ideas. We'll continue to develop these initiatives over the coming weeks.
Be sure to join us next week when Gary Frank takes the hot seat for an interview reflecting on his career. Congratulations to Gary and Lola on a well-earned retirement—we're looking forward to hearing Gary's story.
The Lifeline Art Exhibition is on this weekend at the Eaglehawk Courthouse. It is open from Thursday to Sunday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm each day, with the official opening at 2:00 pm on Saturday.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting.
NEWS FLASH: The accommodation needed for two Malaysia Special Education teachers has been reduced to 13 nights, from 20 August to 2 September 2026
The teachers will be located at either the Bendigo Special Developmental School or at Kalianna School during their time in Bendigo. They will need to be transported to and from their school. Please let me know if you can home host one or more of the teachers during that time and for how long. I can be contacted by phone (0416 192 032) or email (lj@joll.net).
