September 3rd, 2025

We recently had our first BBQ for the year at Bunnings, from all reports it was a busy
time with more sausages and bread being required, the first of many fundraisers for the
Rotary year.  Many thanks to all who helped on the day.

This week saw the book readings of Marvellous Miles at Eaglehawk North, Eaglehawk and St Liborius Primary schools.  Sarah Watts had a fleeting visit from Canberra leaving at 5.00AM on Monday morning and returning at 5.00PM on Tuesday afternoon. She squashed 3 book readings and a couple of radio interviews into this time.  The book readings went well and some of the questions from the kids were just priceless. Many thanks to those who put so much effort into this project, it was well worth the effort.

A well-attended social evening at the Camp Hotel saw over 20 in attendance, welcome back to Barb Leane and Brian Fitzpatrick after their respective holidays.  Thanks to all who offered to distribute the Marvelous Miles books to local schools and kindergartens. This project was delivered with the support of a district grant from The Rotary Foundation.

At next week's meeting, we are pleased to welcome Leanne Anderson as our guest speaker.  Leanne will discuss her recent experience on the Camino Walk, and her presentation promises to be both informative and engaging.  This is a great opportunity to invite a guest along.

Until next week stay well.

Rotary Book Shop
A call has gone out for some additional assistance at the book shop.  Current trading days are Wednesday 10am-1pm and Saturday 10am-12noon.  Discussions are also taking place as to the future operating days/hours (including a possible 'Book Fair'), so an idea of who else would be available to assist would be great in the forward planning.  The Rotary book shop is a wonderful example of how Rotary works within the community, and in this case, is leading the way with the recycling of perfectly good books that don't need to be ending up in landfill.

The overflowing stock of books are currently a book lovers delight, so help us to spread the word - come and check out the massive selection of books on offer - you are sure to find what you have been looking for, in fact, you'll also find what you haven't been looking for too!
