An incredible Member Behind the Badge Night this week at the club meeting.

Charlie Cunneen's membership has spanned over several decades and his contributions to the club have been enormous.  Our clubrooms only have such a great car park because of Charlie!

Charlie's 'Cunneen Excavations' have left a mark on Central Victoria, the very first Hargreaves Mall, Bendigo Senior Secondary College, the relocation of the famous Chinese Pomelo Tree in 1990 to make way for the Chinese Museum and a multitude of excavation works throughout the municipalities of City of Greater Bendigo, and the former Borough of Eaglehawk and the Shires of Marong and Strathfieldsaye.

And a little further afield, away from Central Victoria, Cunneen Excavations also dug the Optus line from Melbourne to Sydney, a significant achievement.  Our special thanks also to Mary Cunneen, your support of Eaglehawk Rotary has been awesome, we admire the work you have undertaken over the years, working within Cunneen Excavations and also as an active contributor to our club.

For those who weren't present both Lindsay and Carmel recorded the chat between our star Rotarian Charlie Cunneen and John J & John P.

With a long list of Rotary activities over the next couple of weeks, members are asked to look out for the email from Secretary John who will be looking to fill some rosters for the various commitments.  Members can check what's coming up by going to the club diary on the website (see link at the top of this bulletin).

Next week we'll have the co-presidents back on deck - they'll probably have some great stories to tell from their camping adventures.

Christmas Trailer Raffle
This has been out and about for nearly 2 months now - and doesn't it look fantastic!

Many comments about the new-look signage, a great addition to our promotional efforts to grab the attention of our customers.

Whilst our community groups are working hard at ticket sales out in the community the support of our members is equally important.  We would like to thank those who have been participating in the trailer movements and the collection of the daily takings and raffle tickets.  This is a great example of many hands making light work.

Rotarians are reminded that the raffle books that have been distributed to you for sale also play an important role in the overall success of this raffle each year.  Remember, you are not expected to buy them, but any tickets that you can sell to family and friends is greatly appreciated.  Let's see if we can go one better than last year - GP we are looking at you - how many books did you sell last year........?  Was it 10?

Just in case you needed a reminder of how fantastic the trailer looks - here is it, a wonderful example of how best to promote Rotary and our club's efforts.

Rotary Foundation
The club, via our Foundation Director, were recently advised of this great achievement, yet again a feather in Rotary's cap!

Your help is valued - and needed!
Secretary John has emailed members with reminders as to the upcoming club commitments and our need to fill some rosters.

It's appreciated that our lives are busy and we have other commitments, so, it would be a great help if we also knew if you are unavailable, that way we get a clearer, and earlier, indication of how we will spread the workload.

RC Castlemaine Truck Show
Family-Friendly Entertainment at the Truck Show

The 37th annual Castlemaine Rotary Truck Show is on over the weekend of Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November, with the trucking industry gathering at the Campbells Creek Recreation Reserve.

This is not a tame regional copy of a big show — our Truck of the Show last year took out the Champion of Champions recently in competition with winning trucks from shows around the nation.

This year we have a Volvo FM Electric prime mover at the show, with some lucky truckies able to test drive this example of the future of the trucking industry, so spectators will get to see — and hear — the Electric truck in action.

Wandering amongst over 250 glistening, gleaming, chromed big rigs is only part of the fun . Our live country music program, a range of food and refreshment options, free kids rides and activities and undercover seating mean this is an affordable and family-friendly day out.

Children under 16 are admitted FREE.

Well-known media personality and Coodabeen Champion, Greg Champion and award-winning country singer songwriter Sandee Facy head our live music lineup.

The Cycling Without Age trishaw will also be available for the foot-weary to take a leisurely turn around the grounds to check out the sights.

Cast your vote for your favourite truck in the People’s Choice Award at the Castlemaine Toyota stand.

Gates open 12 midday on Saturday 29 November and at 10.00am on Sunday 30 November. A crowd favourite is the traditional 9.00am Sunday morning convoy through Castlemaine to the Campbell’s Creek Recreation Reserve.

All proceeds raised go to support Castlemaine Rotary’s community projects and youth scholarships.
