Winter has arrived, and with another cold evening our member numbers were down for our club meeting.

Our thanks go to the team of Rotarians who have assisted Karen as the count team for the Red Shield Appeal.  Karen has passed on her appreciation and anticipates our organisations connections will be strengthened by the experience.  I think those of us who have participated have had a bit of fun, and enjoyed the fellowship along the way.

Well done to John J, John P, Eric and Barb who joined me in providing the BBQ at the Lightning Reef Primary School last week.  A great opportunity to showcase our community involvement once again.

Invitations to the club's Annual Presidential Changeover event were sent out last week.  A reminder to all members, there will NOT be a cashier on the evening, payments are required beforehand, cash or eftpos payment accepted at the weekly meeting over the next two weeks, or alternatively you may make a deposit directly into the club's bank account via the bank details on the invitation.  You also need to advise Secretary John of your attendance so as he has an accurate indication for catering purposes.

A reminder that the club is again catering at the MOPARS event with a BBQ this Sunday in the centre of town.  This is an event that we have been undertaking for several years now. It may be cold (and possibly quite wet) this year, but it's always a lot of fun.  Trusting everyone has a great time and enjoys the event.

A further reminder that there is a public meeting of Eaglehawk Festivals Inc this Thursday 12th June at our clubrooms at 8 School Street, California Gully.  This is a free community workshop to shape the future of the Dahlia & Arts Festival.  A light supper will be provided, and bookings are essential.   To book, go to -

Best wishes are extended to Rotarian John Pearce, a knee replacement may keep him a little less mobile for a while, but I am sure he'll be back on the bike just as soon as possible.

Youth News .....
John Jones and I attended an information session at BSSC on Monday for 20 year 11 students who are keen to learn more about NYSF prior to doing their applications online. 6 past students gave an excellent presentation to the group and the new BSSC video was also shown. NYSF closing date is June 20. We were thrilled to hear that Amy Jefferis successfully applied to be a staffie at NYSF next year - well done Amy.

National Youth Science Forum
Or as it is commonly referred to as NYSF - a brilliant program that is designed to introduce/expose year 11 students to the many difference aspects of science for their consideration.  Here is a link to a video put together by the Bendigo Senior Secondary College in which you get to hear directly from past participants on the value of the program.
