August 20th, 2025

The Eaglehawk Festivals Annual General Meeting is on Thursday 21st August at our clubrooms, The Mechanics, School Street, California Gully.  The current committee are keen to see those in the community with an interest in what may be possible in the future.  We will be attending and supporting this Annual General Meeting and encourage everyone to considering joining us.

This week's meeting was transferred to Saturday to allow our members to attend the Rotary Club of Bendigo's Gala Dinner celebrating their 100th Birthday - also a celebration for all rotary clubs in the Bendigo area - Rotary has been active as a Service Organisation locally for 100 years, how special is that!  Definitely worth celebrating.

Rod Flavell and I recently visited the Alola Foundation in Dili to handout the 2025 Scholarship Certificates to our sponsored students attending the Universidade Nacional Timor Lorosa’e (National University of Timor-Leste).  We were well received by an enthusiastic group of students.  I have attached for you a copy of a photograph of your sponsored student, Ana Zelia de Sa Benevides.

Support for the scholarship program by the Rotary Club of Eaglehawk is well appreciated.

Rotary Book Shop
A call has gone out for some additional assistance at the book shop.  Current trading days are Wednesday 10am-1pm and Saturday 10am-12noon.  Discussions are also taking place as to the future operating days/hours (including a possible 'Book Fair'), so an idea of who else would be available to assist would be great in the forward planning.  The Rotary book shop is a wonderful example of how Rotary works within the community, and in this case, is leading the way with the recycling of perfectly good books that don't need to be ending up in landfill.

The overflowing stock of books are currently a book lovers delight, so help us to spread the word - come and check out the massive selection of books on offer - you are sure to find what you have been looking for, in fact, you'll also find what you haven't been looking for too!
