5th May 2026

Hi all,

A big thank you to Alison who capably took over whilst Mick and I were away.

Quite a few apologies for this week.

John Jones led us through some constitutional changes to ensure regulatory compliance; the club unanimously adopted the changes.

We discussed the parking last Saturday night at the Stupa, Mick has already had a meeting with a representative to address some important safety concerns.

Mick presented a few slides of Mayfield Garden which we visited last week,

Mayfield Garden is considered to be one of the largest and most spectacular cool climate gardens in the Southern Hemisphere. It covers over 65 hectares of land.

Mayfield is Australia’s largest privately-owned, cool climate garden.  It remains a living legacy of the Hawkins family who took much of their inspiration for this project from several of Europe’s most significant horticultural destinations.

If you are ever up near Bathurst, we recommend that you pay the gardens a visit, we are sure you will not be disappointed.

Thanks to Lynne and Karen who have offered to help me with the football gate this Saturday.

And for those who are available to assist cooking a BBQ next Thursday.  This is for the launch of the Salvation Army's Red Shield Appeal; names will be taken at next week’s meeting.

Geoff Gallagher.

Our Easter Book Stall
Our book shop has always been well known throughout the district and is a popular destination for District Governors when they are in town.

A brilliant article on the RC Bendigo Sandhurst's Easter Market included a good spiel about our book stall in the recent edition of the District Newsletter.

End Trachoma

Our club supports many worthwhile initiatives, and in the 2018/19 Rotary year we donated $1,000.00 to the End Trachoma efforts.

It is wonderful to see that this program has been so successful.  For additional information go to the article on the District website at -

Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal
Our Club have been invited to be part of the official launch for The Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal.

We will be cooking the BBQ on Thursday 14th May at 11am.  This year the Salvo's are showcasing other organisations who they partner with throughout the year.

We will have an area for our marquee and trailer and this will be an opportunity to raise our profile in the community and perhaps even be on the look our for possible future members.

Thank you so much for you and the clubs amazing involvement within our communities.

May - Domestic & Family Violence Prevention Month
DV Safe Phones have collection points in Bendigo - this is a great, worthwhile program and is yet another way for us to address Rotary's focus on the environment - keep them out of landfill by giving them to someone who desperately needs a hand.

To co-incide with Domestic & Family Violence Prevention Month we will be collecting phones for donating to DV Safe Phone - at the end of May we will then deliver them to one of the local collection points.  Here is some information provided by DV Safe Phones that will help you understand what they do and how your privacy is protected.  Our members are encouraged to participate by dropping your old phones into the collection tub that will be at the clubrooms.  Members of the public may also participate - simply contact us to make arrangements for drop off.
