Bulletin - Rotary Club of Eaglehawk (Feb. 18, 2026)

18th February 2026

Co-presidents report

This week we had apologies from Karen Armstrong, Brian Fitzpatrick, John Pearce, Tim Watts, and Gary Frank.

Our guests this week were our citizen of the year Terry O’Brien and his wife Lyn. Terry spoke of his 27 years at Eaglehawk police station and his 51 years in the force, this made him the 5th longest serving member. He spoke with great fondness and told several anecdotes of his time here. Judging by the number of questions afterwards I am sure everyone enjoyed his presentation.

Lots coming up in the next few weeks please see the link at the top of the bulletin for more information.

It was good to welcome back my partner in crime, Mick Costello who is keen to get back into action.

Happy Birthday ........ Rotary!

Rotary was born on the 23rd February 1905, and now, 121 years later, the impact that the organisation has had worldwide has been phenomenal. Here's to the next 121years!

Paul Harris Recognitions

President Geoff presented Past President Ron Payne with his latest Paul Harris pin. The new pin, with two Rubies is in recognition of Ron's ongoing support of the Foundation through an annual contribution as a member of the Paul Harris Society.

The funds raised by The Rotary Foundation support many amazing projects undertaken by clubs. On a world wide scale, and more commonly known, is the End Polio now campaign. For every dollar raised through this campaign the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation contribute two dollars - this has had a huge impact on the efforts to eradicate polio, so if you are looking for a valuable and effective donation to make - the Rotary Foundation is an extremely attractive option.
