Co-Presidents report of the meeting held 02/07/2025

Our numbers were down to people being away and some sickies, I hope that you are
soon feeling better and are soon on the mend.

Apologies from Brian Fitzpatrick, Ron Payne, Geoff Adcock who are all away. Lynne
Cooper, Karen Armstrong, Rita O’Brien, Lohn Pearce, Mary Preston, Jenny
Sanderson and Ben Hil.

The meeting was essentially to discuss the format of the following twelve months.
It is envisaged that our club nights be held when necessary as the need arises,
planning for our “regular “activities such as the Eaglehawk festival, Australia Day,
Children’s festival and so on be planned out well in advance and involve sub-
committees so as all the work is not left to one or two members.

Guest speakers are the responsibility of the entire club, and each member will be
asked to organise at least one guest speaker for the year. This will greatly ease the
pressure on Jenny Sanderson who has done a great job in the past.

We are hoping to have a social night on the third Wednesday of the month and go to
some of the local food establishments of which there are many in the area, (Similar
to what RC of Castlemaine does).

I will be sending out a survey regarding a couple of important issues if everyone
could get back to me as soon as possible, it will be in all our interests.

Alison has sent out a link to a video that I would urge all members to watch. This
video tells the story of the Rotary Club of Ballina on Richmond and a project that has
changed the club in an unbelievable way. There is an article in Rotary Down Under
magazine that was emailed out last Monday, I am hoping to discuss this at a later
meeting.

Next week we will have a guest speaker in Karen Armstrong at the clubrooms, so we
look forward to seeing as many as possible there.

Regards Geoff Gallagher.

100 Years of Rotary in Bendigo
Saturday 23rd August will be witness to a major Rotary event in Bendigo.  The Rotary Club of Bendigo celebrate 100 years since they were chartered and the celebrations on this day will be in the form of a Gala Dinner.  Our club are proud of our connection with the Bendigo Rotary club as they were our sponsoring club back in 1966 when we were chartered.  So, not only is this a celebration for the Bendigo Club but it is in fact a celebration for all rotary clubs in Bendigo as this is a significant milestone for us as well.  100 years of Rotary in Bendigo - that is quite an achievement and one to be celebrated.

So, let's put a table together of our club members to go along to support the Rotary Club of Bendigo but to also celebrate the fact that Rotary has had a presence in our town for 100 years.

So let Alison know if you are keen to join the club table and we can arrange the details.
